Hello World! Welcome to our new website

the changes of 2024 into 2025…

Laura and Jennifer Jaeger at Firsts London 2022.

It seems like such a long time ago, 37 years, since I started Ankh Antiquarian Books, in a little shop in Oakleigh, 1989! What a different world it was then, the internet had just started really, anyone remember e-news groups?

Now here we are in 2025, and we are living in an ever changing 21st century AI world, with robots, electric cars and solar panels; people don’t read magazines like they used too but kindles- or do they?

In this digital age, the way we consume media has shifted dramatically. Gone are the days when print magazines dominated coffee tables and newsstands, many have been replaced by online subscriptions and digital publications. E-readers like Kindles have changed the landscape of reading, offering convenience and instant access to vast libraries. But do they truly replace the tactile experience of a physical book?

Despite the rise of digital formats, there remains a deep appreciation for the tangible, the scent of aged paper, and the weight of a well-bound book. Many still crave the joy of flipping through pages, whether it’s a beautifully printed magazine or a rare antiquarian book.

As technology continues to shape our world, one thing remains certain…

Here at Ankh Antiquarian Books, my daughter Laura and I welcome you to a world of book collecting, Ancient History, Egyptology, Latin, the Ancient Near East, South America and Asia. We also have large collections of Theosophy, Philosophy, Literature, Australian History, and much, much more!

Yes, of course the world has changed in 37 years; but the one thing that hasn’t is the service and care that we offer. Our customers often become our good friends, we know our subject and we know how to help you follow your collecting dreams.

Laura has been hard at work designing and launching Ankh’s brand-new website, marking the beginning of an exciting new era for our bookstore. With a fresh, modern layout and improved navigation, the website will make it easier than ever to explore our rare books with a upcoming store, stay updated on events, and connect with fellow collectors.

This project reflects both our deep appreciation for history and our vision for the future, blending tradition with innovation. As we step into this new chapter, we look forward to sharing even more incredible finds and stories with you.

Welcome to Ankh Antiquarian Books, welcome to our wonderful things, welcome to our new website.
